Support & servicing
Servicing & Repairs
Servicing, fault-finding, repairs, battery checks and replacement of parts — whether or not you bought the equipment from us.
What it does
We will look at equipment we did not supply
If your scooter, powerchair, wheelchair, stairlift or lifting equipment has developed a fault, bring it to us or ask us to visit. You do not need to have bought it from P&A Mobility.
What a service covers
A routine service is a proper look at the machine rather than a quick wipe down: battery condition and charging, wiring and connectors, brakes, tyres and tyre pressures, the tiller or joystick, seat fixings, and the frame for cracks or corrosion. We then tell you what we found, what needs doing now and what can wait.
Batteries
Mobility batteries wear out through use patterns as much as age. If range has dropped, we will test the battery under load and tell you honestly whether it needs replacing or simply charging differently. We will also explain how a new battery should be looked after so it lasts.
Breakdowns and parts
Where a part is available we will get it, fit it and check the whole machine before it goes back to you. Where a machine is beyond safe repair, we will say so rather than keep charging for work that will not solve the problem.
Who it’s suitable for
Anyone with mobility or lifting equipment that has slowed down, stopped working, become harder to steer, lost range or started making an unfamiliar noise — regardless of where it was bought.
Who it’s not suitable for
Some older machines no longer have parts available, and we will tell you if that is the case rather than attempt a repair we cannot stand behind. Stairlift and lifting equipment repairs are carried out by P&A Lift Installations. We cannot carry out warranty work on equipment bought elsewhere without knowing the manufacturer's terms, but we can advise you on who to contact.

Talk it through with us

Questions we are often asked
Yes. You do not need to have bought your scooter, powerchair, wheelchair or stairlift from us for us to look at it. Bring it in or ask us to visit, and we will tell you what we find.
It depends on how much you use it and where. As a rule, an annual service is sensible for most users, and more often if you use it daily or on uneven ground. Batteries, brakes, tyres and wiring are the things that matter most, and catching a small fault early is usually far cheaper than a breakdown.
Often, but not always — a dragging brake, soft tyres or a charger that is not charging properly can all cause the same symptom. We test the battery under load, which takes minutes and tells you whether replacement is genuinely needed or whether a change in charging habits would restore the range.
